About:
Sixth-grade girls, which include student athletes, at Rhame and Centre Avenue Schools are taking part in The Beautiful Me project, facilitated by school psychologist Dr. Alissa Nunes and social worker Dawn McCabe. The curriculum based self-esteem program from the Hance Family Foundation is designed to educate females by promoting appreciation for their genuine qualities, accurate self-awareness and the satisfaction of helping others.
Research suggests that only two percent of women think they are beautiful. The Beautiful Me project is the antidote to this statistic. This program has reached more than 20,000 participants with effective lesson plans designed to teach females of all ages how to think positively and with assurance about their bodies, their skills and their relationships with others. The district is proud to teach this lesson to its female students on behalf of Emma, Alyson and Katie Hance, whom the Hance Family Foundation was founded to honor.
